"What got you here, won't get you there!"
I have never yet met a client who did not need to change, or at least tweak some aspect of themselves after becoming ill. From my own experience and research and the clients that I have worked with, there are certainly patterns and trends in the people that develop these sorts of illnesses. Whilst we cannot be held responsible for catching a virus or an experiencing an unexpected traumatic event, quite often the continuation of symptoms long after the trigger has left us, is more to do with the way that we handle stress, our personality type, repressed emotions and lack of self compassion etc. It is not our fault that we became ill, but I have no doubt that we contributed to the illness and the continuation of symptoms.
In order to get where you want to be (fully recovered and leading a wonderful life) something needs to change. The first challenge is to accept that the way in which you may have led your life has not always served you well. The second is putting measures in place to correct those behaviours. Typical examples that I encounter include overthinking, excessive worrying, pushing yourself to the limit, people pleasing, perfectionism, always on the go and with little time for relaxation etc.
To sum up
If you continue to do what you have always done, then you can expect the same results. The high price of not changing in this context is extremely high. This could mean staying ill for a long period of time, or constantly experiencing a boom/bust situation.
Food for thought!
Bye for now.
